In the Community

In order to create housing opportunities that promote inclusive and thriving communities, we need to be in the community. During fiscal year 2024, FCRHA fueled many community initiatives.

50 years of CDBG.

Fairfax County receives affordable housing funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Funds are applied directly to the community, and every $1.00 of CDBG leverages more than $5.02 in other funding, creating additional vital resources locally, such as Mclean-based B.R.A.W.S. Affordable housing residents earn FCRHA scholarships.

FCRHA awarded ten $5,000 scholarships for postsecondary education to local affordable housing residents. Learn more.

FCRHA receives national affordable housing awards.

One University and The Residences at North Hill were recognized by national affordable housing organizations for innovation, creativity and community. Read about awards received from NAHRO, NMA and LAIGW.

Fairfax County Housing Symposium

The 2024 Fairfax County Housing Symposium, was hosted by the Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) and the George Mason University Costello College of Business (FCRHA), with financial support from Virginia Housing, and the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors (NVAR).
