Fairfax County Housing Operational Changes in Effect
In consultation with local, state and federal health officials, the Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority and Department of Housing and Community Development have implemented the following operational adjustments effective immediately:
ALL HOUSING OFFICES are closed to the public beginning Friday, March 27, at 5 p.m., until further notice.
All transactions will be processed via phone, online, mail, email and/or FAX where possible.

Due to the volume of calls we are receiving it may take up to 72 hours to respond. Please note that we are prioritizing emergency calls.
All in-person or group meetings are cancelled until further notice.

All common areas such as computer labs, meeting rooms, fitness centers, etc. at all FCRHA-owned and -operated communities are CLOSED until further notice.
Moves and transfers related to housing quality standard violations or emergency situations will receive priority processing. Other moves and transfers will be processed as quickly as possible but may take more than 30 days to complete.
All NON-EMERGENCY* in-home inspections, with the exception of new Housing Choice Voucher move-in inspections, will be suspended until further notice. ALL NON-EMERGENCY* in-home maintenance will be suspended until further notice. Residents are encouraged to continue to report work order requests with the understanding that non-emergency requests will be deferred.
* If an in-home inspection or maintenance request is an emergency, staff will work with residents to ensure social distancing while the work is performed (NOTE: only those staff who are not showing signs of illness will be deployed to homes for emergency work).
Any resident in need of EMERGENCY HOUSING or BASIC NEEDS ASSISTANCE should contact Coordinated Services Planning at 703-222-0880, TTY 711. They will be able to help assess your circumstance and refer you to county- and community-based resources for which you may be eligible.
Rental Assistance Program Changes
All recertifications will continue to be processed as quickly as possible; however, clients may experience some delays depending on staffing availability.

If you are having difficulties in meeting your monthly rent payment, please contact your housing specialist to discuss your circumstances. Our specialists are committed to working with you, as much as possible, to help you meet your rent obligation.
For Renters at County-Owned and -Managed Properties
A late fee waiver has been granted for any late March 2020 rent payments.
All court proceedings have been suspended for March.
