Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority Scholarship Program - 2023
The FCRHA is pleased to announce the 2023 scholarship program for Fairfax County residents who live in housing supported by the FCRHA. The FCRHA is committed to encouraging higher learning as it recognizes the importance of individuals pursuing a career path that leads to economic independence.

Up to ten scholarships, valued at $5,000.00 each, will be awarded. Scholarship awards will be submitted directly to the institutions and may be used for tuition and related fees as well as books, supplies, and required equipment for courses. Awardees will be announced early July 2023.
What You Need to Know
ELIGIBILITY CHECKLIST

STATUS – Applicants must be a member of a household currently receiving housing assistance through the FCRHA. This includes, but not limited to households receiving any type of federal, state, or local rental housing assistance.

RESIDENCY– Applicants must be a resident of Fairfax County, Virginia for at least six months prior to submitting their scholarship application.

ACCEPTANCE INTO AN ACCREDITED SCHOOL – Applicants must be accepted by an accredited postsecondary education institution including a two-year or four-year college, university, vocational or trade/technical school.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE
Please ensure you meet all eligibility criteria and submit all required documents as noted on the checklist.
Incomplete applications will not be considered. All applications must be received no later than Friday, May 19, 2023, by 4:30 p.m.

Submit, with your online application, two (2) essay questions, up to 500 words each.
Essay Question 1 (Mandatory): All applicants must answer the following question:

Essay Question 2: All applicants must select and answer one of the following questions:-
What are your career goals?

Where do you see yourself five years from now?

Think about an experience from your own life. How has this experience influenced you and your future goals?

How have you been significantly influenced by a particular person or leader in your community?

What is the biggest obstacle you have overcome in life? How has that helped shape who you are today?

Discuss a special attribute or accomplishment that sets you apart from others. How will this help you succeed in your postsecondary endeavors?

TRANSCRIPT OR GED CERTIFICATE
Submit, with your online application, the most recent report card, a transcript from your postsecondary institution, or GED Certificate, as applicable.
