Fairfax County Recruiting More Landlords to Participate in Affordable Rental Program

Fairfax County Recruiting More Landlords to Participate in Affordable Rental Program

Agency offers free information session about how the Housing Choice Voucher program can result in reliable rental income on May 8, 2024 at 12 p.m.

The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) seeks to expand the number of rental properties available to local participants of the Housing Choice Voucher program. These renters utilize subsidies from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to cover part of the cost of their rent. As such, they bring reliable rental income to properties despite economic fluctuations.

Housing Choice Voucher users provide stability as a portion of their rent payment is guaranteed by the federal government. The people who use vouchers are the people who keep the local economy humming: teachers, first responders, retail workers, medical professionals, and others. These are gainfully employed individuals who require support to rent within the area where they work.

FCRHA is offering a free information session to landlords. Space is limited - register online. During this online discussion, affordable housing experts will share information on how property owners can grow their rental business with Housing Choice Voucher tenants.  Benefits of participating in the program include:

·       Potential tax breaks

·       Access a new stream of reliable rental income

·       Lower leasing costs

·       Free advertising

Attendees will receive information about how to participate in the program, and the opportunity to have questions addressed by affordable housing experts. Register here for the webinar.

The FCRHA seeks to attract new landlords to the Housing Choice Voucher program as soon as possible to give households more opportunities to live near work, schools, houses of worship, and other amenities. Currently, more than 4,000 households in Fairfax County utilize financial assistance to rent homes.
