Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority Receives National Recognition

The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority Received an Award of Excellence in Community Revitalization from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) for the Hybla Valley Community Center. This national award recognizes outstanding innovation and achievement in housing and community development programs. The award will be presented at NAHRO’s 2024 Washington Conference in April.

Located on Fairfax County’s historic Richmond Highway Corridor, the Hybla Valley Community Center was transformed from a private, members-only tennis club into the center of community activity. The center offers recreation, education, youth programming and workforce development opportunities. The FCRHA acquired the property in May 2020 and worked closely with the community and its sister government agencies to reimagine the site as a hub for local programs and services. Developed in partnership with Fairfax County’s Neighborhood and Community Services, Hybla Valley Community Center previously earned the 2021 Community Development Award of Excellence from the National Association for County, Community, and Economic Development.

In October 2023, the Hybla Valley Community Center was also recognized by NAHRO with an Award of Merit.
