SPECIAL ALERT: Department of Housing and Community Development Names Permanent Deputy Director of Real Estate Finance and Development
Effective December 7, Teresa Lepe will take a permanent role as the Department’s Deputy Director of Real Estate Finance and Development. Ms. Lepe was appointed Acting Deputy Director on August 19, 2019. Ms. Lepe is a licensed civil engineer with over 30 years of progressively responsible experience in the planning, design and construction of a wide range of capital facility projects. Prior to joining the HCD team, Ms. Lepe was Chief of the Building Design Branch within the Department of Public Works and Environmental Services.
“Community development as been the primary focus of my career, and that all centers around empowering and enabling individuals to access the skills and resources they need to thrive,” Lepe reflected. “It’s a special opportunity to be able to come in and contribute to an amazing team of passionate professionals in developing affordable homes for families and individuals—including the county’s most vulnerable populations—where they can receive a safe and stable foundation to pursue all the benefits life in Fairfax County has to offer.”
Since arriving at HCD as acting director, Lepe has provided excellent leadership on a variety of transformative projects—including the development of the One University and North Hill projects, the preservation of the Murraygate Apartments, and the administration of grant financing for a number of nonprofit development projects including Habitat for Humanity and Pathways.
“Affordable housing is among the highest priorities of Fairfax County, and such a priority demands the contributions of some of the best, brightest and most passionate professionals in the development industry,” said FCRHA Chairman, Robert Schwaninger. “While serving in an acting role, Ms. Lepe’s guidance and leadership on several of our projects has been exemplary and we are excited to welcome her permanently as a valued member of Fairfax County’s housing team.”
