The Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies released a new report, Housing America’s Older Adults 2019, which supplements the Center’s annual State of the Nation’s Housing report and highlights the growing inequalities of the number and share of housing for older adults. The report highlights that housing inequality is becoming increasingly evident among older Americans as the number of older households climbs to unprecedented levels. Between 2012 and 2017, the number of households headed by someone 65 or older jumped from 27 million to 31 million and will continue to grow. In the Washington DC metropolitan area, over 33 percent of older adults (65 and older) are cost burdened. To view the report, click here.
