Has coping with COVID-19 been a challenge? During these times of social distancing, many individuals have had their lives change drastically. The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services and Mental Health America of Virginia has developed the COVID Support WarmLine to provide support for those struggling with trauma, grief and distress caused by COVID-19 pandemic and provide community-based resources and referrals.
A Warm Line differs from a hot line in that it is not intended for emergency services. Crisis peer operators use a strength-based approach that promotes resilience, empowerment, and recovery. They can assist with:
Helping people understand their current situation and reactions
Reducing stress and providing emotional support
Promoting the use or development of coping strategies
Connecting callers with resources that meets their needs
Callers can be rest assured that information remains anonymous and case files are not kept. Crisis peer supports do not classify, label, or diagnose callers.
The warm line is available (Toll Free) 877-349-6428, Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.
