Your input is requested for the amended Fairfax County Citizen Participation Plan, which establishes the guidelines, policies, and procedures for community engagement in every phase of the Consolidated Planning process – planning, action, and reporting.
Community engagement is a critical element for Fairfax County’s to obtain federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to support housing and community development initiatives to help meet the needs of our vulnerable neighbors throughout the County.
County staff has undertaken a comprehensive review of the current Citizen Participation Plan and has proposed several changes – a summary of which is outlined below:
Clarifies the definitions of “minor” and “substantial” amendments to the Five-Year Consolidated Plan and Annual Acton Plans (“Plans”)
Adds a list of locations in which public notices shall be advertised by the County for proposed Plans
Adds new Appendix table summarizing the public participation requirements applicable to each Consolidated Planning document
Reorganizes document sections, and condenses lengthy paragraphs or reoccurring text to improve readability
