Individuals who earn more than the federal poverty level, but less than the basic cost of living in Virginia, might be eligible for monthly cash payments from Fairfax County.
Applications for the Fairfax County Economic Mobility Pilot open September 23, 2023 at 12:00 a.m. The program will provide monthly cash payments to eligible, randomly selected households, along with optional financial coaching and supportive services. Aiming to promote economic stability and social capital, program participants will receive a monthly payment of $750 for 15 months.
Who is eligible?
Participants must meet the following requirements:
Be employed,
Be 18 years of age or older,
Have at least one child aged 16 years or younger living in the household,
Reside in identified neighborhoods in one of the following ZIP codes: 22306, 22309, 20190, 20191, 22041, 20170, 22003, 22150, 20120, or 20151; and
Have a total household income that falls between 150 and 250 percent of the 2023 Federal Poverty Level (FPL). Additional details are available on the program website.
How to apply
The Fairfax County Economic Mobility Pilot application portal will open on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 12:00 a.m. The application portal will close on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.
In-person application assistance will be available during the application period at select locations. No appointment is necessary. To learn more call 703-324-1050. Documentation will be required to confirm identity, residency in a neighborhood within the identified ZIP codes, household income and at least one child 16 years old or younger in the household.
