ABOUT

One University consists of 240 affordable homes adjacent to George Mason University (GMU). It was co-developed with 333 units (798 beds) of market-rate student housing and accommodates households with incomes of 30-60% AMI. One University is the first Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) converted property in the nation to obtain HUD approval for demolition and redevelopment. The original townhouses owned by FCRHA were replaced, which quintupled the density of affordable housing on the land. The FCRHA maintains a ground lease for the GMU student housing building which generates more annual income and is subject to real estate taxes, which adds revenue back into Fairfax County.
