The effects of COVID-19 are continuing to be felt by households across the region – particularly among the most vulnerable households in our community. Many individuals are struggling with financial uncertainty due to lost wages or lost employment and are facing difficult decisions with how to allocate their hard earned and limited resources to meet their needs. As a result, the need for assistance today is significantly greater than just a year ago.
“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the FCRHA has remained at the forefront in monitoring and applying for available resources to ensure the continued provision of critical housing services,” said Tom Fleetwood, Director of the Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development. “We are committed to using every tool in the toolbox. No matter how big or how small, these resources enhance our capacity to extend greater assistance and housing services to those in need.”
On Wednesday, June 19, 2020, the Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) received notice from Virginia Housing that it had been awarded a $75,000 grant to support continued operations in response to the COVID-19 Emergency. This represents the maximum allowable grant amount available to the FCRHA based on the size of the its rental housing portfolio.
